VISITING AN OSTEOPATH

When you first visit an osteopath a full case history will be taken and then you will be examined.

The case history involves taking detailed information concerning
the onset of the condition, symptoms, present
and previous medical history as well as a general health review.
You will normally be asked to remove some of your clothing
and to perform a simple series of movements
so that the mobility of your body can be assessed.

Any areas of weakness, strain or injury will be identified.

The case history and examination will be used together
with any lifestyle factors such as work and leisure activates
to make a full diagnosis and develop a suitable treatment plan.
Treatment will aim to remove the obstacles that are impeding
the blood and nerve supply to any site of injury or strain and so allow the body to heal.
Correction of any bio-mechanical strain in non symptomatic areas
will reduce the stress that may hinder a complete recovery.
